The One-Way Communication Complexity of Subgroup Membership
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper studies the one-way communication complexity of the subgroup membership problem, a classical problem closely related to basic questions in quantum computing. Here Alice receives, as input, a subgroup H of a finite group G; Bob receives an element y ∈ G. Alice is permitted to send a single message to Bob, after which he must decide if his input y is an element of H. We establish the following bounds on the classical communication complexity of this problem in the bounded-error setting: 1. The problem can be solved with O(log |G|)-bit communication with the promise that H is normal. 2. The problem can be solved with O(dmax · log |G|)-bit communication, where dmax is the maximum degree of an irreducible complex representation of G. 3. For any prime p not dividing |G|, the problem can be solved with O(log |G|+ dmax · log p)-bit communication, where dmax is the maximum degree of an irreducible Fp-representation of G.

متن کاملA new exponential separation between quantum and classical one-way communication complexity
We present a new example of a partial boolean function whose one-way quantum communication complexity is exponentially lower than its one-way classical communication complexity. The problem is a natural generalisation of the previously studied Subgroup Membership problem: Alice receives a bit string x, Bob receives a permutation matrix M , and their task is to determine whether Mx = x or Mx is ...
متن کاملChannel Effect Compensation in OFDM System under Short CP Length Using Adaptive Filter in Wavelet Transform Domain
Channel estimation in communication systems is one of the most important issues that can reduce the error rate of sending and receiving information as much as possible. In this regard, estimation of OFDM-based wireless channels using known sub-carriers as pilot is of particular importance in frequency domain. In this paper, channel estimation under short cyclic prefix (CP) in OFDM system is con...
متن کاملPrivate Information Retrieval Based on the Subgroup Membership Problem
Many algorithmic problems, which are used to prove the security of a cryptographic system, are shown to be characterized as the subgroup membership problem. We then apply the subgroup membership problem to private information retrieval schemes following the method by Kushilevitz and Ostrovsky. The resulting scheme has the same communication complexity as that of Kushilevitz and Ostrovsky. 1 Pri...
متن کاملRole of Heuristic Methods with variable Lengths In ANFIS Networks Optimum Design and Training
ANFIS systems have been much considered due to their acceptable performance in terms of creation of fuzzy classifier and training. One main challenge in designing an ANFIS system is to achieve an efficient method with high accuracy and appropriate interpreting capability. Undoubtedly, type and location of membership functions and the way an ANFIS network is trained are of considerable effect on...
